Welcome to the Waist Watchers Challenge!

Starting April 15th, 2026 CLO will execute the first ever CLO Waist Watchers Challenge. It will run from April 15th through July 15th. Teams will be by home or program. Each team will have a Team Captain that will report biweekly weigh ins and fitness points for their consumers.

To encourage healthy practices, we will not go by total pounds lost but a percentage of change. For example, a person has an initial weigh in of 200 pounds. At the first biweekly weigh in the scale reads “180”. The “% Change” for that milestone would be 10%. To keep things simple, % change will convert to a simple point value (8% change = 8 points). That percentage will be rounded to the nearest whole number (4.3 rounds to 4, 5.8 rounds to 6).

For the sake of encouraging our consumers to adopt healthier habits, we will conduct and record additional opportunities for them to gain “Fitness Points”. These are activities that promote healthy activities and make it easier for them to participate (see below for a list of examples). These “Fitness Points” will only be available for consumers. “Alex’s Motivator Challenges” are available to any staff or consumer that feels comfortable trying them.

Team Captains

  • Ensure your scales are zeroed and calibrated correctly before each biweekly weigh in
  • Record weights of both staff and consumers
  • With the help of other staff in your home, record consumer “Fitness Point” activities
  • Record all “Alex Motivator Challenge” points by both staff and consumers
  • Report all staff and consumer scores to Event Leader after each milestone
  • Assist running the Field Day event at the end of Waist Watchers

All Participants

  • Ensure you are exercising, practicing proper nutrition, and lose weight MINDFULLY. Excessive practices should not be encouraged. Things like running with a garbage bag, skipping meals, or other unsafe exercises should not be considered.
  • Be positive about the event and encourage others. Remember, this is about teamwork and creating healthy practices above all!
  • Notify Event Leader with any issues or concerns.
  • Weigh in biweekly with your Team Captain
  • Staff reporting is voluntary and on an honor system. If staff complete “Motivator Challenges” on their own time they can report to their Team Captain
  • Assist Team Captain with recording consumer scores, especially tracking community outings and other “Fitness Point” activities

Event Leader Will…

  • Collect biweekly scores and weights from each team
  • manage the program from Kickoff to Trophies
  • Create and execute weekly fitness and nutrition class activities for all; visiting homes upon request for classes or workout sessions
  • Provide communications biweekly to all staff
  • Maintain our leaderboard
  • Finish off the challenge with a Field Day event to coincide with our final weigh ins

Banquet Dinner

Our Waist Watchers challenge will culminate with an awesome banquet dinner to celebrate all the hard work and achievements from our participants. During the banquet we will have plenty of yummy cheat food and deserts after final weigh ins. We will also reserve time to share stories of our successes, our struggles, and our lessons learned to really commit to better habits in the future. And last, we’ll close out our party with, of course, prizes and awards!

Dizzy Bat Relay

Players run to a bat, place their forehead on top, and spin around it a set number of times. After spinning, they race back to tag the next teammate.

Hula Hoop Contest

Players compete to keep a hula hoop spinning around their waist for as long as possible. If the hoop drops, they are out. The last person still hooping wins. Variations can include multiple hoops or timed rounds for added challenge.

3-Legged Race Relay

Pairs of players stand side by side with one leg from each person tied together. They must coordinate their steps to run to the finish line. The first pair to cross the line without falling wins. Teamwork and timing are key.

Balloon Waddle Race

Teams take turns placing a balloon between their knees and waddling to a designated point, then back to tag the next teammate. If the balloon drops, they must stop and reset before continuing. The first team to have all players finish wins.

Teamwork Trophy

Since we have different number of participants by team, this is scored by the total number of points by each team, divided by the number of participants. This trophy will go to the team with the highest overall average score.

Staff Fitness Fiend Award

This award goes to the staff member with the highest percentage body weight change.

Consumer Community Champion

This award is for the consumer who has the highest number of overall points, taking into account total body weight change and Fitness Points.

Fi’s Field Day Trophy

This coveted trophy will be awarded to the first place TEAM in our Field Day competition, held during final weigh ins.
